There is a song that really plucks at my heart and one of the verses that I love is highlighted!

Mary did you know that your baby boy is Lord of all creation?

That sleeping child you're holding is the great I am

Just that thought is overwhelming. Imagine that, kissing the face of the creator. How blessed Mary was! When Jesus was born, God visited humanity. He came to live with people and to die for their sins.
God is still with us today. Even if it does not feel like it. The fact that you do not see Him, does not mean He is not there.
Problem with mankind today, we blame God for everything that goes wrong in our life. We blame Him for famine, financial loss, death, hurt, racism and everything you can imagine. And when we pray and we do not get the answers we want, we rebel and think God forsaken us and that He is not real. My friend. that is where we have the completely wrong. I am going to be very harsh in my words now, but sometimes we just need to say it. Life is not all about you. We feel and blame because we think God and mankind owes us something. We just want and want more. It is all about ourselves. What we feel and what we want and how we are treated. Seriously, God did not create you for you, He created you for Him.
Let me share this example with you. Let's say you are the best robot builder in the world. You have created the most amazing AI (artificial intelligent) robot. You made this robot to serve you by bringing you coffee, cleaning up a bit and helping you so that you can do other things. That is what you created the bot for. Now, the bot has a mind of it's own. You get home and he just sit there on the couch all day long watching movies. He gets fat and sick because he does not move, now his parts are falling apart and he is now blaming you. Do you get the idea.
It is not God, the problem is you and me. All our problems are self-inflicted. Wrong decisions, wrong friends, at the wrong place at the wrong time. God gave us free will, now you might say, but what about babies being raped, children going hungry up in Africa, murder of innocent people. Why does God not stop that. My dear friend, this is my opinion. God gave free will even to those that are hurting others. Even famine is created by mankind's greed. I dare you to go sit and think about these things.
To come back to the verse: "Immanuel - God with us" Still true, even trough our tribulations, He is there. To give another example. Your child fell down and broke his arm. You as the parent cannot heal the break in his arm, but you can hug him and tell him that all will be ok.
