If Jesus is your King, He wants you to live a righteous life today, which means you?ll think right, decide right and act right. Jesus knows you?re not perfect (1 John 1:8-10); but if you intend to always do the right thing, He?ll forgive your sins (1 John 1:7), and you?ll grow in grace. He?ll bless you and use you.

This was part of my devotion today. I thought it was beautiful because we often feel so guilty when we have fallen into temptation and took action in not defeating the enemy during the trial. That guilt we feel is not from God, it is from the devil. God reminds us many times in the Bible we are forgiven from our trespasses when we accept Jesus Christ and believe that He died on that cross that day to save us all. The problem with this is how people are using God's grace and forgiveness in the wrong way. Many people believe that you can just continue do what you do and just live your life the way you want to. This idea is so wrong. Besides the fact that Jesus said: "Go and sin no more!" is a clear indication that something needs to change.

?

You cannot continue living your life as if nothing happened. When you decide to follow Jesus; not just believe; you turn from your old ways. You give the Holy Spirit the controls and you stop doing the things of your past. The things you watch, listen to. The friends you used to hang out with, all of this will change. You will even start to hate the things of the world and the things that you do that is not in line with what God plans for your life. Let me explain a bit further. You might be tempted to swear at someone or calling them names and you then actually act on that temptation and do it...after that sin, you will hate what you've done, because you know it is not right.

Jesus want us to be righteous because He is righteous and He wants us to live a life that is Holy, because He is Holy. Yes, Jesus knows we are not perfect, that is why He died on the cross for our sins, but it does not mean we should continue with our own ways. We need to crucify our own desires daily and not just look at the self, but look at those around us through the eyes of Jesus. It is so difficult, I know, especially the part of giving up what you want and giving in to what others need.

It is NOT ABOUT YOU, it is ALL ABOUT JESUS and the sooner we realize that the sooner we taste the true freedom.
