Therefore, to you who believe, He is precious; but to those who are disobedient, the stone which the builders rejected has become the chief cornerstone, and a stone of stumbling and a rock of offense.

1 Peter 2:7-8

Strange how we read something now and it has one meaning to you and then years later you read the exact same thing and your mind is blown away. It actually reminds me now of a time when I even said: ?I have already read the Bible, I know what it says, why do I still need to read more?? Especially books like Genesis. Why read the story of Adam and Eve again? My friend, because the Holy Spirit reveals to you when you are ready to see. It is important to continuously read and talk to God about what He is saying.

This bible verse illustrates it so perfectly. Jesus is a Stone of Stumbling to the unsaved. They reject Jesus because Jesus demands that they walk in the light with Him and they are not ready to do that, and therefore, they continuously fall down being blinded, and then they build their house on the sand; that is just waiting for a storm to hit and collapse. When that happens, they start to question God, thinking that He does not care. It becomes a vicious circle and a blaming game.

To me, Jesus is the chief cornerstone of my house. He upheld my house, so that when the storm comes, and it will, the house will stand firm. Sold and strong on the foundation of His word.

We do not understand the power of the word of God. God did not just give us the Bible to tell us about history and how He saved us, but He also gave it to us to protect us from destroying ourselves. We are a selfish nation. We only want what we think is good and pleasurable. We make up false gods. Hang on the lips of humans. Believe them, trust them instead of looking up to the one that created it all. He is not asking much from us. He only wants obedience because He knows, if we follow His word, follow Him we will protect ourselves from destruction.

My friend, it is called love. There is nothing better in the world than the love of God for us. Is Jesus your cornerstone? Are you building your house on the rock? Are you walking on the narrow way? (Matthew 7:13-14)

Stop listening to the world, trusting in the things of the world and put your hope in Jesus. Read His word and talk to Him so your eyes can open and you can truly feel what it is like to be really free!
