"I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd gives His life for the sheep."John 10:11

To understand what this verse is telling us we first need to understand what a shepherd function is. This is defined as the following: A shepherd's primary responsibility is the safety and welfare of the flock. Some flocks may include as many as 1,000 sheep. The shepherd will graze the animals herding them to areas of good forage, and keeping a watchful eye out for poisonous plants. Shepherds often live in trailers or mobile quarters.

Now this makes me excited right now, because now the verse is getting more clear. Jesus gave up the glories of Heaven to come to Earth for His sheep.

Jesus is the Good Shepherd who asks you to become a shepherd for His sheep. He told Peter, ?Take care of my sheep? (John 21:16). Just as Jesus is your Shepherd, you must become a shepherd to someone who needs your care. Peter wrote, ?Care for the flock of God? 1 Peter 5:2

Who is the flock of God. Is it just our brothers and sisters in Christ, as that will make it so easy to care for them right?

It will be difficult to care for those who stab you in your back!

It will be difficult to care for those who steal from you!

It will be difficult to care for those who disappoint and frustrates you!

It will be difficult to care for those that you believe are not thankful!

It will be difficult to care for those that just keep on sinning and not want to turn away from evil!

All of these things are true. It is difficult but...

A good shepherd gives up his safety to brave the storm or fight a predator; Jesus came to earth to be tempted, ridiculed and persecuted. A good shepherd will die protecting his sheep; Jesus gave His life on the cross for the world. Jesus said, ?Other sheep I have which are not of this fold; them also I must bring? (John 10:16).

Jesus set an example. He came for the lost too. Even those that you feel you cannot care for, for whatever reason you might have. We need to learn to look at others through the eyes of Jesus. He loves those that opposes Him, we should do the same and not spread any negative thoughts, ideas, text, posts, whatsapps or whatever technology we use.

Let's learn to look at other through His eyes and not the eyes of a selfish human.

?

Is this possible. NO, not if you are trying to do this in your own power. You will need to let go of your own selfish ways and realize that life is NOT ABOUT YOU and ask God that gives peace above all understanding to guide you and help you to care for the flock, even those that opposes you.
