And by a miracle, God sent them food to eat and water to drink there in the desert; they drank the water that Christ gave them. He was there with them as a mighty Rock of Spiritual refreshment. 1 Corinthians 10:3-4

When I think of Israel, I sometimes wonder why they acted the way they did. The saw multiple miracles happening right in front of them and yet, they were not thankful, always complaining. They were so in-tuned with their fleshy needs that they hardly see God for who He really was. At the same time, the same thought enters my mind, what makes me so different from the Israel nation. I see  miracle every single day. It is there, just open you eyes and you will see and yet, am I thankful? Am I not complaining just like they did. Sometimes we need to look into our own black hearts and stop pointing fingers.

Israel experienced spiritual dryness. They arrived in Meribah (Exodus 17), the oasis was dry. They must have thought: "Why is the Lord bringing us to a dry hole. Is he punishing us?" I am sure they had a million questions and complained all day long.

What they did not know is that God in all His wisdom knew that they are spiritually dry. He wanted them to drink spiritually from Himself. The dry h ole of Meribah revealed Israel's spiritually famished condition.

Are you at your dry hole?

Sometimes God leads us to the dry holes in our lives because he see your spiritual emptiness and wants to call you to come and drink of Him who will give you the spiritual drink so you will never be thirsty again.

We tend to quickly run to the things the world can give us. We can drink from our daily lives but we will always be thirsty.

How do we drink from the Rock of our Salvation?

First, we repent. We make a decision that we had enough of what this world is offering. We believe that Jesus died on that cross for our sins and that we are made right before God, just because He shed His blood and paid the price. It does not stop there. This is where so many people fail. Just like the parable of the seeds where it falls on dry ground, that is what happens if you do not water your seed in your heart. It will fade away and means nothing. You need to turn away from the things of the world. Run away from sin, all those things you did in the past is now gone and it has no control over you anymore. Remember, the same power that raise Jesus from the dead is now in you. You invited Him, now you need to build a relationship and walk with Him, talk with Him, listen to Him. Meditate on His word daily. Not just on a Sunday.

I always say to my kids. Whatever you do, Jesus is right beside you. He see and hear everything. So when you watch a certain movie, music, send a text. Think if what you are watching or doing will glorify God, if not then do not do that.

It does not mean we must stop living. It means that we need to search our lives and hearts. Do we have to watch movies where God's name is used in vain? God made it clear that you shall not use His name in vain. This is just one example. Some people might even say, but it is only entertainment! Really? How can it be entertaining for a Christian that loves God to see how His name is used in vain. It does not make sense does it?

You will need to get rid of the old habits. Yes, it is difficult, but that is where the Holy Spirit helps us. Nothing happens over night. No relationship is awesome right from the start. It takes hard work and continuous effort to produce a good, healthy relationship.

Start that relationship with Him today and avoid what they world is doing.
