"He will manifest in His own time, He who is the blessed and only Potentate, the King of kings and Lord of lords." 1 Timothy 6:15

This morning during my own devotion time, I read the word ?Potentate? for the first time. I can hardly pronounce it, but it made an impact on me. So much that I felt like I need to share this with you. 

Potentate comes from the Greek word dunamai, as in ?the power of God to salvation?

There are different kinds of power. For example: We see a judge having power because the entire law stands behind him and therefore he gives the police the power to control and protect. We see headmasters of schools having power because all the teachers are in agreement with him and in turn, the headmaster gives them power over the children.

Jesus is called Potentate because he has the power to salvation. And because you have accepted the salvation, He gives you the power to fight the fight! To be part of the angel armies. We just need to put on the Armor of God, follow Him and the power He put in us will grow and we will become stronger and stronger. But, we need to remember that with great power comes great responsibility. You cannot abuse that power. You need to nourish it, learn from it and apply it to your own life and also empower others. It is like a domino effect. What you do, can either build up the next person or destroy them. 

So how do you destroy someone with this beautiful power that Jesus gives you?

 Easy, you boast about how good you are, how holy you are, and never see your own sin. You point fingers at others, showing them, all they are doing wrong, but you forget to look at your own heart. Can you see what I am trying to say? When you become a reborn Christian, you are turning away from the old self. You become a  new person in Christ. You see people differently, you act different and you start to crucify the self that was destroying you before. The more you do that, the more the power grows within you. You become wiser and stronger, but be very careful, because evil is lurking and is looking for an opportunity to destroy.
